Matt Schafle Joins AXPC as Vice President of Government Affairs

Washington, D.C. – Today, the American Exploration & Production Council (AXPC), the trade group of America’s leading independent oil and natural gas producers, welcomed Matt Schafle as Vice President of Government Affairs. Schafle joins AXPC from the U.S. Department of Interior, where he served as Director of the Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs.

“Matt brings over 15 years of experience in Washington and a proven track record of advancing pragmatic energy policy across the highest levels of government to our team,” said AXPC CEO Anne Bradbury. “His leadership will be instrumental as AXPC continues working with Congress to champion durable solutions that expand supply and access to more affordable, reliable energy.”

At the Department of the Interior, Schafle advised the Secretary on congressional and legislative priorities to strengthen America’s energy independence and the responsible management of public lands. He served as the chief liaison between the Department and Congress, and led the Senate confirmation process for the Department’s many nominees.

Prior to joining the Administration, he was the Managing Director of Federal Affairs for the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. Matt began his career with the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources, where he served two chairmen and held multiple positions, including Director of Coalitions and Member Services.
