Washington, D.C. – Today, the American Exploration & Production Council (AXPC) released Episode 3 of its podcast, Longer Laterals, featuring an in-depth discussion with Chairman Bruce Westerman who leads the House Natural Resources Committee. In this episode, Anne and Chairman Westerman drill deeper into how the ping-ponging of permitting decisions hurts energy affordability and America’s national security, and how the bipartisan SPEED Act introduces regulatory durability by reforming the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to unlock the permitting process while upholding environmental protections.
“Securing America’s energy future requires a federal permitting system that prioritizes infrastructure investment over red tape and affordable energy over legal fees for trial lawyers,” said AXPC CEO Anne Bradbury. “The SPEED Act includes exactly the kinds of common-sense, bipartisan solutions we need to meet our nation’s growing energy demand and deliver reliable, affordable energy to where it’s needed most.”
“America’s outdated permitting laws aren’t facilitating economic growth or achieving balanced environmental protection,” said Chairman Bruce Westerman. “If we as a country want to supercharge investment, achieve lasting energy dominance, build infrastructure – we must modernize the NEPA process and that’s what the SPEED Act does.”
