AXPC Applauds Bipartisan Support to Advance the SPEED Act, Urges Passage of Comprehensive, Durable Permitting Reform

November 20, 2025

Washington, D.C. – The American Exploration & Production Council (AXPC) today welcomed the House Natural Resources Committee’s markup of the SPEED Act, calling it an important step toward advancing durable reforms to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) that support U.S. energy security and infrastructure development.

Anne Bradbury, AXPC CEO, said:

Today’s markup of the SPEED Act is a critical step towards fixing the decades-old permitting challenges that delay and derail all forms of American energy projects. Every family deserves access to affordable, reliable energy, and AXPC applauds Chairman Bruce Westerman, Rep. Jared Golden, and the Committee for advancing common-sense reforms that cut the red tape and end the permitting lawfare that hold back American energy production. We are encouraged to see growing bipartisan momentum to modernize NEPA and look forward to broader bipartisan support on the floor.
