AXPC: Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act’s Generational Permitting Reforms Go Big to Lower Energy Costs

September 30, 2026

WASHINGTON – The American Exploration & Production Council (AXPC) today praised the introduction of the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act. The legislation, sponsored by Senators Shelley Moore Capito (WV), Mike Lee (UT), Sheldon Whitehouse (RI), and Martin Heinrich (NM), delivers generational reforms to modernize America’s weaponized and outdated permitting system while maintaining high environmental standards.

Anne Bradbury, AXPC CEO, said:

“This bipartisan breakthrough goes big to durably reform a broken permitting system that needlessly drives up energy costs and puts America’s energy security at risk. These comprehensive reforms would unlock generational investments to make energy more affordable and position America to win the global energy race that will define our future. We urge the Senate to act with the urgency this moment in history demands by passing the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act.”
