Washington, DC – Today, the American Exploration & Production Council CEO Anne Bradbury released the following statement after AXPC filed a petition for reconsideration with the American Petroleum Institute and a petition for judicial review against the EPA’s recent Subpart W rule:
“AXPC supports the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program and further supports the goal for the US emissions inventory of oil and gas data to be as reliable of an estimation as possible. An accurate Greenhouse Gas inventory is in the best interest of all stakeholders, especially as we direct billions of dollars and resources towards emission reduction within our operations.
“We are asking EPA to reconsider provisions in this rule that we feel need to be improved, specifically: inaccurate flare emission factors and unrealistic and unnecessary sampling and testing schedules.
“AXPC supports the GHGRP, but has petitioned for reconsideration on provisions in the rule that are unworkable, inaccurate, or can be better estimated with available empirical data.
“We hope to continue to work constructively with EPA on rule revisions that achieve the shared goal of developing an accurate inventory based on best-available empirical data.”
