AXPC adds Liz Bowman as Vice President of Communications

WASHINGTON – Today, the American Exploration & Production Council (AXPC), a group of America’s largest independent oil and gas companies, welcomed Liz Bowman – a communications strategist with energy experience in both the government and the private sectors – as vice president of
communications.

“Liz’s experience in top government and private-sector communications roles, combined with her passion for America’s oil and gas industry, makes her the perfect addition to AXPC, as we advocate for smart regulations and sound policies that enable our industry to continue leading energy development and meeting the highest environmental and safety standards,” said AXPC CEO Anne Bradbury.

Bowman comes to AXPC from the American Petroleum Institute, where she directed the strategic communications, messaging and strategy for marketing core API Global Industry Services (safety,
environmental protection, and sustainability standards, certifications and training) program offerings, segmented by audience and global geographic region.

Prior to joining API, Ms. Bowman served as U.S. Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa’s communications director, managing press staff and working with the Senate Republican Conference, where Senator Ernst serves as the vice chair.

Ms. Bowman also served as the associate administrator for public affairs at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In this role, she served as the top EPA spokesperson, advised the EPA
administrator on all issues concerning short and long-term strategic communications, oversaw a large team of communications staff, and managed communications around the confirmation of Senateconfirmed associate administrators and the deputy administrator.

Ms. Bowman also worked in top communications roles for public affairs firms, associations, corporations and advocacy campaigns.

Ms. Bowman earned a Bachelor of Arts from Virginia Tech and a Master of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University.
